TechTips

1)   Treat the clutch with respect - do not allow excessive "slip" during engagement; it is an expensive item.

2)   Drive in first gear for the first five minutes to warm gear oil and allow shifts to second gear without synchronizer sluggishness.

3)   Maintain a battery charge with a motorcycle battery charger during long storage periods.

4)   Do not try to start the vehicle with a low battery charge; damage to the Marelli Dinoplex ignition module may result: it is a very expensive item.

5)   Do not "jump start" the vehicle; damage to the Marelli Dinoplex ignition module may result from the voltage surge; keep an excellent battery in the car at all times.

6)   Watch for gear oil leaks at the half shaft seals; heat in the area of the inner U-joints at the transaxle causes seal decay; smoke from the exhaust pipes in the area will indicate oil spray.

7)   Problems with tire interference in the front wheel wells may be due to shock absorber failure.

8)   Maintain a strict schedule of cam belt replacement to avoid catastrophic engine damage.

9)   Keep the gas tank full during storage, as an air space will promote vapor buildup and water condensation.

10)   Do NOT use the automatic choke to start the engine !!!
